Grampian Hospital Radio has officially celebrated receiving the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, recognising the dedication and commitment of its volunteers to the Aberdeen community.
The award, presented in November 2025, is the highest honour a voluntary organisation can receive in the UK. It acknowledges the significant contribution made by the team at Grampian Hospital Radio over many years.
Deputy Lieutenant for Aberdeen, Maggie Openshaw, formally presented the award at a special event held at the station’s studios on Tuesday, 11 August. The occasion brought together current and former volunteers to mark their collective achievements.
For decades, Grampian Hospital Radio has provided entertainment and companionship to patients, visitors and staff across Aberdeen’s hospitals.
The station relies on a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time to keep the service running.
Chairman Neil Fraser said the award belongs to every volunteer, past and present, who has contributed to the station.
Neil described the presentation at the studios as a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievement together.
