ILR at 40: Celebrating commercial radio

Commercial Radio is 40 years old this week, and to celebrate, we’ll be publishing a special article each day from the people who have lived and worked through it – or at least the majority of it.

We started this morning with the radio industry’s very own history expert – David Lloyd. During the week we’ll also hear from Paul Robinson, John Simons, Paul Easton and more.

LBC was the first legal commercial radio station to launch in the UK, followed by Capital Radio a week later.
