On breakfast today, Nick Grimshaw announced the return of BBC Radio 1’s Teen Awards in 2015.
The event honours the UK’s unsung teenage heroes as well as the year’s best music, online, sport and entertainment stars, at London’s SSE Arena, Wembley on Sunday 8th November.
It will be broadcast live on Radio 1 and the website, and will be on CBBC straight afterwards, whilst Cel Spellman will provide the Teen Awards after party, broadcasting his 5-7pm show live from the venue.
The afternoon event (3-5pm) this year includes appearances by 5 Seconds of Summer, Little Mix, Nick Jonas and All Time Low. 5 Seconds of Summer dropped into The Radio 1 Breakfast Show to make the announcement. The foursome also performed their brand new single ‘Hey Everybody’ in Radio 1’s Live Lounge, along with their cover of ‘Drown’ by Bring Me The Horizon.
Nick Grimshaw will present the event, and will be joined throughout the ceremony by other co-hosts. He says: “The Teen Awards are the loudest awards I’ve ever been to and I know 2015 is gonna be the best ever.”
Ben Cooper, Controller, Radio 1 and 1Xtra says: “Radio 1’s Teen Awards are a fantastic celebration of youth culture in the UK, highlighting some of the amazing, selfless acts that teenagers undertake to make life better for their friends, family and communities.”
