Bristol stations end medium wave transmissions

Two radio stations in Bristol are ending broadcasts on AM this week as a transmission site gets redeveloped.

BBC Radio Bristol will be closing its 1548 KHz service and Smooth Radio will no longer be available on 1260AM – the original frequency for Brunel Classic Gold.

Both stations will continue to be available on DAB, whilst BBC Radio Bristol continues its FM transmissions.

RadioToday understands there are no plans to replace the AM services once they have fallen silent.
