Tony Horne wants to shake up podcasting

Tony Horne, breakfast presenter at Metro Radio, today announces the launch of his new mini-podcasting network.

Published at greatpodcasting.com by Tony’s company, Horney Media, the service will concentrate on almost exclusively brand new material.

Tony says: “Most of the podcasts in the UK have been re-hashes of radio shows. That has never been my vision. We will offer a small network of brand new content which, is so specialist, it does not belong on the radio.

“Naturally, we will use radio techniques to produce the shows, and there will be two spin-off podcasts from the Tony Horne In The Morning radio shows but our network is about lifestyle.”

There will be seven launch shows featuring the likes of bedtime stories for children, pregnancy diaries, and fitness, as Communications Director of the Great North Run, David Hart explains: “Tony is a multi-talented and versatile broadcaster, and a man with a vision. He clearly saw the relationship between the i-pod and running and has turned it into audio magic.

“We are delighted to be launching the first-ever Great Run Pod this Friday.”

Horney Media would also like to hear from broadcasters who have their own visions for podshows and invite applications to join the mini-network.

Tony says: “Remember though – no rubbish, just genuine new, interesting, lifestyle content.”
