Absolute success at P and Ms

Absolute Radio has taken four prizes at tonight's radio industry Promotions and Marketing Awards in London – including the Gold Award for the second year running.

Trent FM – which won't exist after January – took two awards and one for Heart gave Global three in total. Orion bagged two, while Bauer, GMG and the BBC picked up one each.

The NDL Radio Academy Promotions and Marketing Awards recognise and celebrate the best marketing and promotion campaigns across the industry and twelve awards were presented in total.

As well as the Creative Gold Award, Absolute Radio won Best National On-Air Promotion (Faces for Radio), Best On-Air Sponsorship (Sony Ericsson Baddiel and Skinner) and Best On-Air Imaging.

Global's Trent FM, which is merging with Ram FM and Leicester Sound in January to create a regional Capital FM station, picked up two awards for the same promotion – Raise Your Voice.

There were a record number of entries this year, and tonight's award ceremony at The Venue in central London was hosted by Kerrang!'s Alex Baker.

Bob Shennan, Chairman and acting Chief Executive of the Radio Academy, said: "Absolute's entries showed yet again the high standard of the work being done at 1 Golden Square. Overall, the judges were extremely impressed by the high standard of all the entries this year. Stations from across the BBC and commercial radio sector submitted entries which showed new and creative ways of connecting with their audiences."

Nick Deyong, Managing Director of prize management company NDL – who sponsor the awards – added: "We were delighted to be involved with this event once again and would like to congratulate all of the winners. We look forward to continuing our support of the radio industry into the future."
