Hundreds of people have turned out in Leeds for the funeral of former Radio 1 DJ Jimmy Savile.
The presenter died 11 days ago aged 84 and will be buried in Scarborough tomorrow after today’s Requiem Mass at Leeds Cathedral.
Yesterday, more than 4,000 people paid their respects to Sir Jimmy by visiting his gold-coloured coffin on display in the city.
Radio 1 colleague Mike Read is thought to be among those attending the service today.
The BBC reports that Sir Jimmy will be buried in one of his trademark tracksuits and will be set at an angle of 45 degrees at a cemetery in Scarborough ‘to enable him to see the sea’.
