Former Gcap and Emap programmer Owen Ryan is returning to the UK from Australia to take up the role of Programme Director of Bauer’s Hallam FM and Magic AM.
He’ll replace Anthony Gay who leaves the station to join Reelworld productions and Pure Tonic Media.
Yorkshire-born Owen joins after four years as Content Director for Mix 106.5 in Sydney and Mix 101.1 in Melbourne. He previously worked at Hallam between 2002 and 2005 as Deputy Programme Director before joining Gcap as Century FM’s Programme Controller in the North East and later XFM Scotland as Programme Director.
Tracy Eastwood, Managing Director for Bauer Yorkshire commented: “I’m delighted to welcome Owen back to Yorkshire. He brings with him not just great skills and experience but fresh thinking and new levels of creativity. Owen is a great addition to the Hallam and Magic leadership team all of whom are excited to be working with him.”
Owen told us: “It was always going to take something special to lure me back from Melbourne. When the team at Hallam and Magic approached me I simply couldn’t say no. I’m so excited to be coming home to work with a market leading team and I can’t wait to get started in January!”
Owen is expected to take up his new role in Sheffield at the end of January 2012.
