New London radio show for Fiona Phillips

Former GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips is joining BBC London 94.9 for a new weekend show, each Sunday morning.

She’ll be on-air from 9am till midday, replacing Jeni Barnett for at least the next three months.

Fiona started her broadcasting career in commercial radio, working for County Sound in Guildford, Peterborough’s Hereward Radio and Mercury FM in west Sussex. She then made the move to television hosting shows such as Watchdog, Panorama and GMTV. Her last radio work was on Smooth Radio hosting a networked pre-recorded Sunday afternoon show and covering for Simon Mayo at 5 live in 2008/2009.

“I am really looking forward to combining my television work with getting back into radio broadcasting where my media career first started and sharing Sunday morning with listeners across the capital,” Fiona said.

David Robey, Managing Editor of BBC London 94.9 FM, says: “I am extremely pleased to have Fiona join the BBC London 94.9 team. She is well known and respected as a journalist and popular TV presenter. Fiona is a great addition to the morning line-up.”
