Sponsored sky dive for Wave 105 air staff

Wave 105 presenter Simon Clarke and news reporter Jason Beck raised more than £7,000 in aid of the station’s Cash for Kids charity through a sponsored skydive.

With Goskydive, the duo and 18 listeners took off from Old Sarum Airfield in Salisbury and went up to 13,000ft feet before jumping out of the plane and reaching top speeds of 175mph while gliding back down to earth.

Simon Clarke says: “When the opportunity came up to sky dive in aid of Wave 105 Cash for Kids, we jumped at the chance!

“It just goes to prove what a worthy cause this is that we are prepared to jump out of a perfectly good plane if it will help disadvantaged children throughout the south.”

Wave 105 Cash for Kids supports local children under the age of 18, who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically disadvantaged. The charity also encourages healthy lifestyle options by promoting physical, mental and general wellbeing of children and adolescents specifically within the Wave 105 region.

Gloria Hill, Wave 105 Cash for Kids charity manager, adds: “We are thrilled that so many listeners were prepared to take on this daredevil challenge and raise such sky high funds for the charity while doing it.”
