Global has made a series of senior programming appointments following its announcement that James Rea is to become its new Director of Broadcasting.
Sam Jackson has been promoted to the role of Senior Managing Editor, running Smooth, Classic FM and adding Gold to his remit.
Tom Cheal is appointed as the new Managing Editor of LBC. Tom has worked at LBC for the last 15 years, joining as a reporter and producer before becoming James Rea’s deputy five years ago.
Tim John is the new Head of Global’s Newsroom and Andrew Bailey joins Global from Sky News to take on the role of Digital Managing Editor – LBC and Global’s Newsroom.
The appointments follow Global’s announcement yesterday that James – previously Managing Editor of Heart & LBC – now oversees all programming and brand output for Global’s radio brands.
Global also confirmed yesterday that Gareth Andrews will remain as Group Programming Operations Director, reporting to Rea, taking on a new wider remit that sees him ensuring the smooth operation of Global’s programming, across all brands.
