Former Chrysalis boss Richard Huntingford has been appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of Virgin Radio. Richard resigned from Chrysalis when Global Radio took over last month, having been CEO of the company since 1994.
Richard established the radio division of Chrysalis in 1993 with the first station 100.7 Heart FM being launched in September 1994 in Birmingham, followed a year later with the launch of Heart 106.2 in London. He was at the helm when the company bought and built the Galaxy brand, through the acquisition of the two London news talk stations and formed the MXR Digital Consortium with the partnerships of Capital Radio, GMG and Ford.
Also today, Rosemary P Thorne joins the board as Senior Independent Director and David Palmer is appointed as Chief Financial Officer.
Commenting on the appointments, Rob Woodward, Chief Executive Officer of SMG plc said:

Richard and Rosemary will start their new positions on September 1st 2007. David Palmer joined in July.
