London stations form capital community network hub
London’s community stations are being brought together under a new network to share programmes, training and a stronger voice with public bodies.
The London Community Radio Network has been launched to connect not for profit stations and audio producers across Greater London, with plans for shared programming, volunteer development and joint representation on advertising and public information campaigns.
The proposal comes from Jason Rosam of Riverside Radio and Westminster Waves, and Duncan Martin of Maritime Radio in Greenwich.
They want the network to include community services on FM, DAB and online, along with student radio, podcasts and other non profit audio providers serving London communities.
A first joint project could be a London wide election night programme for the May 2026 local elections, with Riverside Radio acting as the central hub and stations across the capital contributing reports from counts. Broadcast journalism students from London universities are also expected to be involved.
Jason said London’s stations do “vital work” but are too often overlooked when public advertising budgets are allocated. Duncan said many groups are doing “fantastic work, but often in isolation”.
Organisers plan to hold an initial meeting in April to discuss how the network will operate and which projects it should take on first. Stations interested in joining are being invited to contact the organisers by email – jason@londoncommunityradio.com.
