Wood ‘n’ Plank back on Moorlands

Former Signal Radio presenter Doug Wood is joining a Staffordshire community radio station on a permanent basis from tomorrow.

Doug, who spent twenty-seven years at the Stoke-on-Trent based commercial station, recently presented two successful weeks of breakfast shows on 103.7 Moorlands Radio.

He now brings his unique style of broadcasting to the station's brand new Doug Wood Breakfast Show, which starts at 7am.

Doug said: “I've been made to feel really welcome by all the team at Moorlands Radio, and I'm thrilled to be starting my new-look breakfast show permanently.

“I'm especially excited to be reunited with my old friend Sam Plank, and bringing 'Wood n Plank' back to the airwaves each morning.”

Mervyn Gamage, who has presented the breakfast show for ten months, will now enjoy a well-deserved lie in while continuing to be involved with the station in a behind-the-scenes role.

To coincide with the appointment of Doug Wood, Moorlands Radio is also now available around the world via its website. The internet stream improves reception in remote parts of the Staffordshire Moorlands, and will also enable ex-pats and others to stay in touch with home.

Moorlands Radio broadcasts to the Staffordshire Moorlands and surrounding areas on 103.7 FM. It launched on a full-time basis in November 2009 and is a not-for-profit community organisation.
