Absolute podcast Ronnie Wood
Absolute Radio Classic Rock presenter Ronnie Wood is getting his own podcast versions of his show. There'll be two different podcasts to start with – one featuring stories of Ronnie's time with the Rolling Stones and the other containing highlights of interviews from his daily radio show.
Community move for Bauer show
A weekly specialist programme on Radio Borders that plays Scottish music is moving online after being replaced with a network show by owners Bauer. The Sunday Getherin' slot finished this weekend after 7 years, but will reappear with the same presenter – Karin Ingram – next week on internet community station TD1 Radio.
Jack and Glide strangers wed
Two listeners to Oxford stations Jack FM and Glide FM are now a few days into their marriage after the conclusion of the '2 Strangers and a Wedding' competition. Justine Oakley and Robert Kitson got married on Thursday after being picked by the stations but never having met before the big day.
Afghanistan trip for Westwood
Tim Westwood is to broadcast his BBC 1Xtra show from Camp Bastion in Afghanistan for a week, as well as doing a special show for Radio 1. He'll present his drivetime programme live from the army base at the end of May and it'll be simulcast by forces broadcaster BFBS.
Starbucks deal for Capital ball
Coffee shop chain Starbucks has been announced as the new sponsor for the Capital FM Summertime Ball which returns later this year. Heart North Wales MD dies
Tributes are being paid to the Managing Director of Heart in North Wales, Clive Douthwaite, who has died suddenly. It's understood Clive – who's been in charge of the Wrexham-based Global station for four years – passed away last night (Sunday).
BFBS takes talkSPORT games
The British Forces Broadcasting Service has started re-broadcasting Premier League games from talkSPORT to troops in more than 20 countries worldwide. The deal, which commenced yesterday evening with Tottenham Hotspur against Arsenal, puts the high-profile matches on BFBS Radio 2.
RCS is officially Cool Stuff
Zetta, the latest automation software from RCS, has won a Cool Stuff Award given by a panel of expert engineering judges at the 2011 NAB Show in Las Vegas. Only a small number of products were chosen for the Radio World “Cool Stuff” Awards from the thousands of new products on display at the convention.
Spark presenter gets Hits show
21 year old Jordan North – a presenter with Sunderland student radio station Spark FM – has landed himself a show on digital station The Hits. He's won Bauer Radio's competition to find the next generation of talent and will get his own Sunday show for a month as the prize.
