Broadcasting House event for Sound Women

The networking a development group for women in radio, Sound Women, is hosting a workshop and networking event at the BBC’s New Broadcasting House in central London tonight.

Radio 1’s Edith Bowman and Heart 106.2 breakfast co-host Harriet Scott are among those speaking at the event.

The event follows the launch earlier this year of a Sound Women mentoring scheme, run in partnership with the BBC Academy, for thirty women working in audio-related industries. Sound Women was created last autumn to support, celebrate and raise the profile of women who work in the radio and audio industry.

Tim Davie, Director, BBC Audio & Music said:: “I’m delighted to be hosting this event. It is excellent news that Sound Women is enabling people to build their network, share ideas and pick up practical advice.”

Sound Women founder Maria Williams added, “Sound Women is all about unlocking the potential of women in radio. We’ve identified confidence and networking as two of the key skills our members need to further their careers and have their voices heard. This event will directly address that need.”
