talkSPORT signs Johnny Vaughan weekends

Former Capital FM breakfast presenter Johnny Vaughan is heading to talkSPORT to host a new weekend warm-up show.

He’ll take on the 11am till 1pm slot each Saturday – going head to head with 5 live’s Fighting Talk, of which he was the original presenter. Johnny will be looking ahead to the weekend’s games and talking to football fans.

He was last on-air at Absolute Radio last summer during the London 2012 Olympics and before that spent seven years at Capital FM on breakfast.

In other changes, Richard Keys and Andy Gray commence their new weekly Friday evening show this week, and Max Rushden will host ‘The Warm-up’ on Sundays.

Also, talkSPORT presenter Georgie Bingham joins former Newcastle, Portsmouth and Coventry footballer Micky Quinn as the new host of Weekend Sports Breakfast every Saturday and Sunday at the earlier start time of 7 till 11am. Mark Saggers will present Sunday Exclusive and Kick Off on Monday to Thursday nights.

The Match Day Live returns from 1pm bringing listeners all the goals from around the grounds plus talkSPORT’s live and exclusive Barclays Premier League commentary at 5.30pm on a Saturday and 1.30pm on a Sunday.

After the live action, starting with Swansea v Manchester United this Saturday, Call Collymore is back at 7.30pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday giving fans the chance to air their views on all of the weekend’s games on the fastest post-match phone-in, hosted by Stan Collymore.

On weekdays, Colin Murray’s new show between 10am-1pm will see him accompanied by guests each day to discuss the day’s sporting issues. Former England and Lions hooker Brian Moore and Perry Groves join him every Monday, Micky Gray and Des Kelly on Tuesdays, former German international Didi Hamann and Steve Bunce on Wednesdays, former Liverpool and Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy and Olympic medalist Kelly Sotherton each Thursday and Perry Groves and Bob Mills rounding off the week each Friday.

talkSPORT Programme Director Liam Fisher said: “Undoubtedly the upcoming Premier League season promises to be one of the most exciting ever and our football rights allied with the best line-up the station has ever had means we are the number one destination for sports fans. The new additions to the talkSPORT squad give listeners superb insight, analysis and entertainment to help build on the station’s highest ever listening figures.”

Johnny Vaughan said: “If there is one thing I enjoy more than a Saturday afternoon at the football, it’s a Saturday morning looking forward to an afternoon at the football. The Warm-up with Johnny Vaughan will bring the buzz, the banter and the big dreams of a match day morning to a radio near you.”
