A bunch of spin-off stations have launched today across the North of England and in Scotland, going under the internal name of City Network 3 from Bauer.
The stations have appeared in areas already served by Bauer FM stations, and where pop music station The Hits was previously available.
They are available in Liverpool, Manchester, Lancashire, Sheffield, Leeds, Hull, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Inverness with each area getting a local version of the national station The Hits, adding to the current “1” and “2” stations.
At the time of writing, new websites were yet to be launched on domains such as RadioCity3.co.uk and forth3.com.
City Network 3 is part of a wider strategy by Bauer announced last year, offering current hits to a younger 15-25 demographic. The Hits will stay as a brand on digital television and on DAB in London. (Correction: The Hits has been removed from London DAB)
The new stations are:
Radio City 3
Rock FM 3
Radio Aire 3
Metro Radio 3
