Absolute Radio say Frank Skinner is commercial radio’s ‘most popular podcaster’ after the comedian’s show got 5 million downloads for the first six months of 2011.
Frank has also signed a new contract to keep him at One Golden Square until the end of May 2012.
June was a record month – with more than one million copies of the podcast downloaded in just a month – including 268,000 in one week. The 6-month total of 5m compares with 6m in the whole of 2010.
Frank – who won a Sony Gold this year for the Saturday morning show – told us: “The podcast listeners are my secret cyber-comedy gang. All over this country, and beyond, people in headphones are giggling to themselves. We’re currently developing a special handshake. I’m loving it.”
