Former Fire Radio boss Alan Smith returns

The former Station Manager of Fire Radio in Bournemouth is returning as parent company Triple Broadcast’s UK Sales Strategy Manager.

Alan Smith left the station in 2009 when it was sold by owners TLRC and is a previous Sales Manager at 2CR-FM.

Alan told RadioToday.co.uk: “I’m really excited to be back working in Bournemouth radio and look forward to seeing lots of old friends and clients. When I left, the station was just starting as an independent company, it’s great to see such growth in the business and the station is now a huge success as well as the only local radio in town.”

Owners The Triple Broadcast Co say Alan’s return is a key appointment in the growth of the company, with Fire Radio recently having its licence extended by Ofcom until 2022 and now being available on DAB across Dorset and South Hants.

Chief Executive Gareth Cottier-Jansen said: “Alan left us with a solid foundation, and now it is good news to have him back home. It demonstrates that Triple Broadcast values talent – which is why so many of our staff stay for so long and come back to us.”

Fire has also welcomed back news journalist Catherine Pugh, another ex 2CR and Heart FM worker who had a stint with the company last year. She will be reporting and newsreading for Dave Taylor’s breakfast Show from the Holdenhurt Road studios in Bournemouth.
