Frank Skinner has re-signed to Absolute Radio for another year – and extended his show by an hour.
His Saturday morning programme, which has been on-air since March 2009, will broadcast 8am till 11am from June.
Frank appears on the station’s marketing as a “Face for Radio” and he won Gold in the Best Entertainment Programme category at the Sony Radio Academy Awards last year, and just this week won Bronze in the same category. The station tells us his new three hour show will continue to feature contributions from the delicious Emily Dean and Alun ‘The Cockerel’ Cochrane who was recently nominated in the Newcomer of the Year category at the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards.
Frank Skinner said “I’m really excited to be doing a longer show for Absolute. My radio sandwich suddenly became a club.”
The show will be time-shifted and broadcast slightly later across the Absolute Radio Network, every Saturday morning – on Absolute 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and Absolute Classic Rock between 9am and 12pm.
Absolute Radio’s Content Director Tony Moorey said “We’re proud to invest in talented broadcasters. Frank was one of Absolute Radio’s first signings, since then he’s more than doubled the audience, giving many, many listeners the perfect start to the weekend. Put simply there’s no funnier show on radio, the only way to improve it was to have more.”
