Paul Weller is to do an intimate live session and audience Q&A for Absolute Radio as part of a partnership with the Abbey Road Studios.
The gig next week takes place in front of ticket-winning listeners next Tuesday (29th May) and will be broadcast as a Sunday Night Music Special on the station.
Weller will perform in Abbey Road’s Studio Three – made famous by Pink Floyd who recorded there. It has also played host to Florence and the Machine, Paul McCartney and the final recording by Amy Winehouse.
Absolute Radio Hometime Presenter Geoff Lloyd said: “I can’t think of a more British event than Paul Weller at the Abbey Road Studios. Everyone knows this is where some of the greatest music has been made, and Weller is one of those greats.”
Absolute’s partnership with the Abbey Road Studios kicked off earlier this month with a performance by American indie rock band, Fun. The station says that future sessions over the next year will feature both signed and unsigned bands performing in front of a small audience in the studios and a specially refurbished space in the studios bar.
