Medal-winning experters will complement the commentary team covering the London Paralympics on BBC Radio 5 live.
All the major action from the Olympic Park will be on the station with 5 live sports extra providing listeners with additional coverage. Between them the two networks will run around 100 hours of coverage of the Games across the two networks.
The digital pop-up station, Olympics Extra, closed down at the end of the Olympics.
Shelagh Fogarty will present her show on weekdays between 12-2pm on each day of the Games whilst John Inverdale will present 5 live sport in the evenings and at weekends. Russell Fuller a veteran of Olympics and Paralympics in Sydney, Athens, Beijing and London will lead the coverage on Radio 5 live sports extra.
Double cycling gold medallist from the Beijing Paralympics Mark Bristow MBE will offer insight on cycling from the Velodrome.
Alan Ash, a veteran of four Paralympics Games, will be analysing wheelchair rugby. Kate Grey, who won silver at the 2006 IPC Swimming World Championships will be provide analysis from the pool alongside Steve Parry.
Caroline Matthews, who competed in Athens and Beijing and won silver at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester in 2005 will be a pundit on women’s wheelchair basketball. Joe Jayaratne who represented Great Britain at three Paralympics Games, winning silver in Atlanta, will give his take on men’s wheelchair basketball.
As already announced Baroness Tanni Grey–Thompson will lead the team of analysts across the Paralympics. Baroness Grey-Thompson, who won 16 Paralympics medals and won the London Marathon six times in her career will present daily from the Olympic Park during the Games.
Alongside Tanni will be Paralympic swimmer Marc Woods, who won 12 Paralympics medals, including 4 Golds and a further 21 medals from European and World Championships.
Olympic medallist Steve Parry and former 400m runner Allison Curbishley will also be at the Paralympics. Steve has been reporting for the station for five years including covering the 2008 Games in Beijing, while Allison has been covering athletics since the 2004 Games in Athens and was also part of our Paralympics broadcasting team in Beijing.
Completing the reporting and commentary line-up for 5 live is Mike Costello (athletics) Chris Mitchell, (swimming) Ed Harry (athletics)Simon Brotherton (cycling), Philip Studd (rugby), Mike Sewell (basketball and rugby) along with Gordon Farquhar, Jamie Broughton and Andy Stevenson who will report from various venues across the Games.
On Sunday 26 August from 11 to 12pm BBC Radio 5 live will give listeners another chance to hear the documentary telling the stories behind some of Britain’s key Paralympic medal hopes.
The programme is presented by Russell Fuller who speaks to competitors, including Stef Reid, a sprinter, who lost her foot in a boating accident aged 16, telling the stories about how she became involved in competitive sport and her hopes and aspirations for London 2012.
