This week’s edition of Fighting Talk on 5 Live was replaced with a podcast after Colin Murray announced he would not be hosting the show due to “obvious reasons”.
Those reasons are of course to support Gary Lineker, with Colin saying: “In the interest of transparency, this was a decision taken by the entire FT team and myself.”
He also quipped: “Bob Mills was still up for it, to be fair ;).”
Mark Chapman and Dion Dublin have also stepped down from presenting duties today on 5 Live Sport, standing in solidarity with Gary Lineker.
Fighting Talk was due to air at 11am but instead The footballer’s football podcast was broadcast.
The afternoon was a simulcast of BBC Radio Wales’ Rugby commentary.
A BBC Spokesperson said: “The BBC will only be able to bring limited sport programming this weekend and our schedules will be updated to reflect that.
“We are sorry for these changes which we recognise will be disappointing for BBC sport fans.
“We are working hard to resolve the situation and hope to do so soon.”
Sunday Update: BBC director general Tim Davie has apologised to licence fee payers after a day of programme disruption on radio and TV.
Gary Lineker was suspended on Friday night after criticising the government’s asylum policy on Twitter.
No @FightingTalk316 today, for obvious reasons.
In the interest of transparency, this was a decision taken by the entire FT team and myself.
