Community stations get their awards call for 2026

Entries have opened for the 2026 Community Radio Awards as the scheme marks ten years since its launch in Birmingham.

The awards recognise work by volunteers, presenters, stations and teams across the UK community radio sector, covering stations licensed by Ofcom and currently broadcasting.

This year’s categories include programming, community impact, volunteering and journalism, with entries closing on 30 June.

Judging will take place during the summer, with panels drawn from community radio, commercial radio, the BBC, academia and the wider media sector. Shortlists are expected to be announced towards the end of the summer.

The awards ceremony will again be held in the evening after the national Community Radio Conference, organised by the UK Community Radio Network, in October. The final date and location are still to be confirmed.

The Community Radio Honours are also open for nominations, recognising people who have made a lasting contribution to the sector. For 2026, nominations move to a rolling basis, with submissions considered within a two year cycle.

Rebecca Steers, Founder and Chair of the Community Radio Awards, said the awards recognise people “making a real difference through radio”.
