Heart and IKEA Birmingham raise money

Heart breakfast presenters Ed James and Rachel New visited IKEA Birmingham yesterday to launch Heart’s joint fundraising initiative with IKEA.

Throughout the month of March, the station will be fundraising in the local area as part of their ‘Have a Heart’ campaign with this initiative donating £1 from every pillow sold at IKEA to ChildLine until March 11th.

Throughout this weekend, members of the Heart team will be joining Heart DJs Ed and Julian in IKEA Birmingham to kick-off the fundraising activities.

The Heart Angels will be taking over an IKEA bedroom in which there will be a Winning Whirlwind where customers can try their luck catching ‘pillow feathers’ to be in with the chance of winning £100. Customers will also have the opportunity to show off their Xbox skills, playing Mario Kart with the fastest lap time winning a family ticket to the X Factor Live Tour. Visitors to the store will also be encouraged to sign their name across a duvet, with whoever signs the winning square winning £100. Ed and Julian will also be on hand to help carry purchases to cars.

Ed James said: “Have a Heart is a fantastic campaign which helps to raise for ChildLine, an invaluable service for children when they are desperate for help. Thanks to IKEA for coming on board to raise even more money in March.”

As part of Have a Heart week, IKEA will be visiting Heart FM next Thursday where they will announce the amount of money raised over the weekend. Have a Heart launched as Heart’s official charity in 2009 and this year, is sponsoring ChildLine, the free phone and online service, offering support and advice for any child who may feel they have nowhere left to turn.
