New weekday schedule for BBC Radio Wales

Wynne Evans take over the lunchtime show on BBC Radio Wales, whilst former Absolute Radio presenter Vicki Blight joins the station.

Current host of Wynne Evans’ Big Welsh Weekend each Friday afternoon, Wynne will be on-air from 11am till 1pm each weekday from January. “I’m thrilled to be starting a weekday show on BBC Radio Wales. Being an avid listener to the station myself, it’s always been an ambition of mine to join the daily line-up!,” he says.

In the new schedule, Mal Pope will broadcast a new early breakfast show live from BBC Wales’ Swansea studio. Jason Mohammad’s weekday show will also move to a 9am start from Monday to Thursday, with Dot Davies taking over from him on Fridays.

Former Absolute Radio presenter, Vicki Blight, will take over from Mal on the weekend Early Breakfast Shows, a show she previously did on Absolute, with comedy writer Gareth Gwynn moving to Sunday afternoons.

Steve Austins, Editor of Radio Wales, said: “We’ve listened to feedback from our audience and the new Radio Wales morning schedule will have more music and a great mix of content. We’re delighted Wynne has come on board five days a week and I know Mal will get Wales off to the perfect start.”
