UK audio producers were among the major winners at this year’s New York Festivals Radio Awards.
Almost Tangible won a Grand Tower for Wolf Valley, a five part eco thriller set in Norway and made for BBC Radio 4.
The drama, conceived and written by writer director Charlotte Melén, also received recognition in the entertainment, sound and writing categories at the 2026 Radio Awards.
Other UK linked winners included The Skewer from Unusual Productions, which won Gold Towers in Comedy Program and Sound Art, while Fantasy Park: Fifty Years On also won Gold in Documentary.
Magnum Opus Broadcasting won Gold for Paul McCartney: Beatles And Beyond, made for BBC World Service, and Folk on Foot: Goblin Band in the City of London was also among the Gold winners.
Canada was also strongly represented at the event, with CBC/Radio-Canada named Broadcaster of the Year for a second consecutive year.
CBC’s Sea of Lies, made with What’s the Story Sounds, also won a Grand Tower in the Narrative and Documentary Podcast category.
Natacha Mercure, General Manager, Audio and Radio, Radio-Canada, said the broadcaster’s wins were “an immense honour and a great source of pride for everyone at CBC/Radio-Canada.”
The other Grand Tower winners were Uncuffed Season 4 from KALW Public Media and Wolf Valley from Almost Tangible.
Stephen Capus, President of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and former President of NBC News, received the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dear Rachelle, from News Corp Australia and True Crime Australia, received the 2026 National Press Club Award.
