UTV Radio is taking advantage of local DAB space by launching three radio stations for the summer.
Following on from UTV’s Christmas stations, Pulse, Signal and Wave are launching Pulse Summer in West Yorkshire, Signal Summer in Stoke-on-Trent and Wave Summer in Swansea.
The three stations will run from June 15th till September 6th. They will all offer non-stop upbeat tunes across the summer, from sunny mornings, long hot days, through to balmy summer nights.
Although the stations will be available in the three regions on DAB, they will also have dedicated websites and be available to listen to online.
Terry Underhill, Group Programme Director for UTV Media, told RadioToday: “These stations will become the soundtrack of the summer and will offer a non-stop feel good playlist of the most upbeat summer songs of all time. We are always looking for new ways to engage with our listeners and these stations are an excellent brand extension for us.”
UTV says their Christmas stations had over 300,000 listeners online in addition to DAB.
The company has just sold its Liverpool station Juice FM subject to regulatory approval from the Competition and Markets Authority, for £10m, and says its strategic review to possibly sell more stations is ongoing.
