Country music station Chris Country Radio is now broadcasting on DAB in London on the Switchdigital multiplex.
The service is on a number of test multiplexes around the UK, but this is the first venture into terrestrial radio in London for the station, which is owned and operated by Chris Stevens.
It also marks the first time a country music station is available in the capital, since Country 1035 closed in 2002.
Chris, a former Smooth Radio programmer told RadioToday: “I lived in the USA for five years, and when I moved back I couldn’t find a country station here like the ones I enjoyed there, so I set my own up!
To celebrate its London launch, Chris Country Radio will be at the O2 all this weekend interviewing the world’s biggest country music stars who are in town performing at the Country to Country music festival.
Chris adds: “Today’s country music is incredibly well written and produced. We know we’ll get a warm reception from the thousands of country music fans already in London but we also want to welcome those who might not have checked country music out before. Chances are they’ll really enjoy it!”
