UBC Media Group has partnered with Imagination Technologies to handle the global licencing and sales of Radioplayer.
Unique Interactive, UBC’s software division, is already responsible for the software that manages both station listings and search functionality.
The two companies will now market the software via a partnership vehicle – Radioplayer Worldwide – which includes James Cridland, and will share revenues with the UK industry.
In another announcement made this morning, UBC and Imagination have consolidated their interest in audioBoo, meaning UBC now owns 40.3 per cent of the mobile and web audio platform, whilst Imagination Technologies holds 9.8% shares in UBC.
Simon Cole, Chief Executive of UBC told RadioToday.co.uk: “I’m pleased to see our relationship with both Audioboo and Imagination being strengthened by this consolidation. The move comes after a successful fundraising round for Audioboo and the announcement of its adoption as an approved technology by the BBC. We have worked with Imagination for many years and our shared vision of the development of services for the connected media world will be a powerful part of UBC’s future strategy”.
Radioplayer’s stakeholders are the BBC, Global Radio, GMG Radio, RadioCentre and Absolute Radio.
