The 40th anniversary year at Radio City means a number of schedule changes, with a new breakfast show and other full time programming people leaving.
RadioToday can confirm Simon Greening, who’s currently on the daytime slot about to be taken over by Simon Ross, whilst Head of Production Al Stirling will also exit the Bauer station after 13 years.
Meanwhile weekend jock Anton Powers has decided to leave after two years to join rival Juice FM. “I made the decision to leave in November and have been working my notice period on air for the past 5 weeks,” Anton told RadioToday.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at City and worked with some great people and gained some amazing new listeners. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who tuned in and wish all at Radio City every success in the future. I didn’t make the decision easily and there was only one place that could tempt me away,” he continued.
Anton will return to Juice in the next few weeks – he worked there for 11 years prior to joining Radio City.
He said: I’m delighted to be joining the stunning lineup on the Juice weekend and working alongside Ian Longo, Denny Dowd, Dave Whelan and Liam Hincks. It’s an absolutely brilliant and unrivalled lineup that I can’t wait to be part of.”
Ande Macpherson, Regional Content Director, North West said: “At Bauer Media, we are constantly driving to deliver market-leading, engaging and relevant content across Radio City and all stations within the Place Portfolio. This means developing our talented content team such as Chris Rick as well as retaining our best performers, recruiting the freshest and most exciting talent from outside and developing new shows such as ‘Old Skool & Anthems’. We’re confident these changes will be popular with listeners and advertisers alike in our anniversary year.”
On Friday, RadioToday revealed Simon Ross would be moving to mid-mornings after five and a half years on breakfast.
