Former Real Radio, Marcher and Signal programmer Terry Underhill has been appointed as the new Group Programme Director for UTV Media’s portfolio of local radio stations.
Terry has most recently been back on air as a presenter at Smooth Radio, following his previous management post as Group Head of Music for GMG Radio.
Terry worked as a presenter at Liverpool’s Radio City and MFM in Wrexham during the 80s, before a spell as Head of Programmes at Signal Radio then Group PD of the Marcher Radio Group in the 90s. He joined GMG Radio at the launch of its first station – Real Radio Wales – in 2000 as Breakfast Presenter and Programme Director and then went on to do the same role at its sister station in Yorkshire. He was latterly the group’s Head of Music until 2009.

Terry will start his new role at the beginning of November and will be based at the company’s headquarters in Birchwood, near Warrington. Francis Currie, who has been working with UTV on a consultancy basis since mid 2009, will continue to provide support for the group.
