JACK fm is to launch in London and across the UK later this year, and take over Glide FM’s frequency to launch a new brand.
A new female friendly station will be known as JACK fm 2, designed to complement the male-heavy JACK fm.
It’ll be the 6th name in 16 years for the 107.9 frequency used by Glide FM – but JACK fm UK co-founder Clive Dickens is looking forward to the launch: “JACKfm is one of the UK’s fastest growing radio brands, and it makes perfect sense for us to invest in this growth by expanding the brand to JACKfm 2 initially in Oxfordshire.”
JACKfm 2 will launch on Tuesday August 20th, on both FM and DAB, headed up by new station Programme Director Joe Thomas.
Talking of the expansion plans Mr Dickens commented: “Growth of other brand extension digital services has proved that ‘niche’ is the new mainstream”.
RadioToday has learnt the station has entered into exclusive discussions with other licensees in numerous locations across the country to roll out the brand, as JACK fm’s new homepage at jackfm.co.uk lists a number of new locations.
JACK fm is already operating in five locations across the UK, and originates from Canada where the first JACK fm launched at the end of 2002.
