GMG Radio partners sustainability charity

Real Radio and Smooth Radio are to become media partners of a charity called ‘Start’, a project set up by the Prince of Wales.

The GMG Radio stations will promote the charity’s events, encouraging people to take steps to ‘do more with less’.

GMG Radio Chief Executive Stuart Taylor said: “We are impressed with Start’s focus on making a practical difference, encouraging people to make small, achievable steps. We feel we can lend our considerable broadcast leverage to help do the right thing and encourage our listeners to do the same. Our staff already work hard to ensure the impact on the environment at our offices is as low as possible and this new relationship with Start enables us to utilise our broadcasting resource to provide information to our 5.6 million listeners a week* on ways of living more sustainably.”

Joey Tabone, who heads Start, said “Start is thrilled to have the support and partnership of GMG Radio. With a shared belief in the pressing need to make sustainable living simple, engaging and accessible to everyone, our organisations are brilliantly matched to collaborate towards this goal. With GMG Radio’s Smooth and Real stations we not only get to amplify the messages behind Start, but also have ongoing, meaningful conversations about sustainable living with our target audience. And those conversations are where the real positive change happens.”
