A team of employees from Real and Smooth Radio across the UK are walking up five mountains today to raise money for charity.
50 volunteers are enduring 8 to 10 hours of climbing and hiking across Kirk Fell, Great Gables, Esk Pike, Great End and Scafell Pike (England’s highest mountain) in the Lake District.
‘Duchenne Now’ – a children’s charity geared towards the research and treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, is just one of the charities which will benefit from the event to help a condition that not only attacks the muscles but can also become fatal if it progresses to the heart, or respiratory system.
A spokesperson told RadioToday: “‘Duchenne Now’ was chosen as the beneficial charity as it’s largely overlooked, however they desperately need support for the fantastic work they do.”
Their fundraising target is £7,350 but they are confident of reaching beyond this.
