Bee jock changes name after UKRD success

Lancashire radio presenter Paul Winstanley has changed his name by deed poll following the news that his employer UKRD has again been voted the country’s best mid-sized company to work for.

Paul, who does the drivetime show on Blackburn and Preston station The Bee, is now officially called ‘NumberOne Mid-sizedcompanytoworkfor ThebeepartoftheUKRDgroup’.

The 32-year old says: “It all started as a bit of a dare. I walked in late to an important meeting and had to think of some way to make it up to my boss. At first I didn’t think it was a big deal but when the paperwork arrived it dawned on me what I had actually done. My friends and family didn’t even know what I had planned. But I’m very proud to work for the UK’s number one mid-sized company and know I won’t be able to forget it.”

This weekend UKRD – which owns 16 stations around the country – was revealed as the winner in the mid-sized business category of the Sunday Times’ annual search for the UK’s best employers. The company is now celebrating picking up the award for two years in a row.
